Global Student Success Program in partnership with Navitas:

The University of Massachusetts Lowell, in association with Navitas, offers a Global Student Success Program (GSSP). The program is offered to the students of both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The program, at both these levels, has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of the students. The GSSP, or the Global Student Success Program, is meant for all the international students who wish to pursue a degree of their choice in the United States but have a lot of apprehensions or fears or for those who find a lot of obstacles in their path. The program serves as a convenient option for all those students who are fearful as to how they are going to survive at an overseas university. Some of these students are highly worried as they are not as proficient in the English language as they would want to be. For these students, the Global Student Success Program serves as an alternative pathway to the University of Massachusetts Lowell and also help those who find themselves unable to qualify for direct admission to the university.

These programs that are offered as part of this are equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Thus, as soon as you complete the program, you get a direct entry to the second year of the bachelor’s degree at the university. The program has been consciously developed to provide the students with all the elements that prepare them to successfully complete their degree at UMass Lowell. There is a certain number of credits that the student earns when he completes this program. These credits are counted in the degree as well and thus, the student gets direct entry into the second year of the degree program.

The Graduate GSSP Program is also aimed at helping students develop and improve certain skills like proficiency in the English language, general research abilities, and communication skills. For assured development of the students, they are also allowed to use the resources and facilities available at UMass Lowell like student clubs, libraries, etc.

One of the biggest advantages that the Global Student Success Program provides to the students is that all the international students get to earn their degree in the United States without having to go through the long application process that has become no less than a symbol of education in the U.S. They get to work around the hassle of the long admission procedure. Moreover, the entry requirements of the program are also quite flexible and the students are given admission to the program throughout the year. Therefore, the program is more than a student can hope for.

Reasons for international students to attend the University of Massachusetts Lowell:

For an international student, the stakes are always higher as compared to a local student. It is important for the academic community to understand that the transition that an international student has to make during the time of admission is no easy task. There are a lot of fears and apprehensions involved. It is nothing but natural for any international student to be quite curious about the college that he is planning to attend. Every student goes on the internet and tries to conduct as much research as possible in the hope to find out whether or not his college will be welcoming. Many times, this research or this entire process proves to be really helpful. But many other times, it can put the students in a confused state of mind.

The decision of where to attend college is not a small one. A lot depends upon it and the process of making this decision is obviously difficult for all the students. However, for international students, it a bit more time consuming and tougher. Coming from a new country puts them at a disadvantage as they have absolutely no idea about the culture, the traditions, and the quality of education. After all, we all have certain expectations of our college. None of us would want to end up at an institute that does not have much to offer or does not live up to our hopes and expectations.

Well, at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the students get more than they expect. One of the major evidence of this is the longstanding history of the institute and its reputation among the students.

Some of the reasons why you would want to attend the University of Massachusetts Lowell are:

  1. Low student to faculty ratio

One of the most important things that an institute can offer to its students, and especially the international students, is good attention inside and outside of the classroom. It is quite understandable that it is not easy for an international student to adjust to a new country. When he arrives on campus, he is filled with a lot of fears and preconceived notions. It is very important for him that he gets the required attention in the classroom and begins to feel at home. At the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the student to faculty ratio is as low as 17 to 1. With such a low ratio, the university offers all the international students a healthy environment filled with care and attention. Also, it becomes fairly easier for professors and faculty members to interact with their students in the classroom. The students can also get in touch with their professors outside the classroom whenever they need to.

Moreover, because of such a low ratio, international students get the confidence that they require at the beginning of their college life. As they become comfortable, it becomes fairly easy for them to make friends and thus feel at home in college.

  1. Decent rankings

No international student would want to leave his home, his hometown, and everything else that is familiar to him to attend a college that has poor rankings. In fact, almost every international student leaves his home and moves to another country in search of a higher quality of education that he can find in his homeland. This is the primary reason that only a few countries in the world have been able to establish themselves as prominent study destinations.

At the University of Massachusetts Lowell, you don’t need to worry about the rankings as the institute has got pretty decent rankings. The U.S. News & World Report ranks the university at the 89th spot in the list of Best Public Universities in the country. In the National University Rankings released by the same report, the university managed to bag the 179th rank. Moreover, UMass Lowell has been recognized as one of the top 200 research universities in the United States. In terms of the intellectual property generated, the university stands at the 13th position in the entire country. These rankings also contribute to the prestige and the reputation that is associated with the university and to the applications that it receives.

  1. Great financial assistance

One of the biggest obstacles that come in the path of a student wanting to internationalize his academic career is the cost associated with education. The tuition fees alone can seem to be way too much for a student to afford. Moreover, for students coming from Asian and African countries, it can be even worse because of the difference in the strengths of the currencies. Every year, many students do not even try to get admission in the institute of their choice because of these costs.

Well, at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, you get financial assistance like nowhere else. The university has awarded more than 192 million dollars in financial aid to the students. The average need-based award package stands at a decent fifteen thousand and four hundred dollars. With such financial aid options, it becomes fairly easy for international students to study the course of their choice and gain the required quality of education.
