Math Assignment Help With The Y-Intercept
4.4 The y-intercept
y-intercept occurs where the input, or value of x is equal to zero.
For example:
y = x2 + 2x -15
x2 – 3x - 18

Now, putting x = 0 we get:
y = (0)2 + (0) – 15
(0)2 + (0) – 18
y = -15
-18
y = 5
6
y = 0.83
That is, the graph crosses the y-axis at y = 5/6 or 0.83.
Notice that when you express the polynomials of a rational function in standard form, then the y-intercept is simply the ratio of the final terms for the two polynomials.
