Subtraction is also simple. The procedure is same as of addition.

Example: Subtract 1.342 and 2.765

2.765 - 1.342 = 1.423

Multiplication is done just as is done in whole numbers.

Steps for multiplication:

• Multiply just as you do in whole numbers
• Line up the numbers with decimal point.

3.21 x 2.10 = 6.741

• Apply the normal multiplication method. Do not consider the decimal points while multiplication

3.21 x 2.10 = 6 741

• Write the product.
• Count the digits after the decimal point of the two numbers,

There are three digits after decimal point (two digits in first number and one digit in the second so 2+1=3 digits in total), so place the decimal point after three digits starting from right to left.

Therefore the answer is 6.741
