SBM4104 IT Infrastructure

Assessment Details:

This assessment is designed to assess students’ technical skills in planning and configuring a computer network. In addition, it develops student skills in planning and finding IT infrastructures solution that suit enterprise requirements.

Assume you are working as an IT professional at the IT department for ABC company, you have been assign the task of analysing the current network design and propose new network configuration for the network shown in Figure 1.

Network design for ABC company

For the network diagram in Figure 1:

  • NET-A: 10.10.1XY.0/24
  • NET-B: 172.16.1XY.0/24
  • NET-C: 192.168.1XY.0/24 where X, and Y are the last two digits of the student ID of one of the group members.

[For example, if the student ID is 201701234 then XY=34 and NET-A: 10.10.134.0/24, NET-B: 172.16.134.0/24 and NET-C: 192.168.134.0/24]

Task-B: (25 marks)

Assume the IT department of the ABC company wants to adapted virtualization and Cloud computed for hosting some of the organization application servers. Discuss the followings:

  1. Propose two organizations that provides Cloud services for hosting the email and web servers for the organization. Justify your answer by explaining the level of services each company provides that suit the organization requirements.
  2. Demonstrate how the Cloud computing can support the dynamic scaling of the selected organization applications.

Please note you have to use Harvard reference style and the report should be submitted as a Word file.

Assessment submission

Your report must include a cover page that include the student name and student ID. You have to submit the word file of your report to APIC online learning system by the due date. Your submission must include your answers for Task-A and Task-B.

Marking Criteria and Rubric: The assessment will be marked out of 100 and will be weighted 30% of the total unit mark
