Based on the readings and some internet research, how has sport been used in the past a tool for achieving social, economic and political goals? AND How is sport being used as a tool for achieving social, economic and political goals? **Please provide some specific examples and be sure to cite your sources.

In our past, there were strict structure of hierarchy system between distinctive social class and different gender. Moreover, complicated structure of different political powers and authority created by territorial boundaries were displayed. The term “sports” changed its definition and became a useful tool for achieving social, economic and political goals. Many kinds of product which related to popular sports has been displayed to increase economic productivity. It enhanced the distinction between race, gender, social position, and ethnicity as sports were developed to make specific character of people’s admirable traits.

In these days, it is same as the past that our society is increasing economic productivity by making products of popular sports games. However, the thing which has been changed is that sports led individual countries enjoy their activities with different countries and form intimacy. Most importantly, sports integrate and make more prosperous, peaceful society which help minorities to build their own identity. According to the article, “The Girls’ Soccer Team That Joined a Boys’ League, and Won It”, it shows that the soccer and other forms of sports in present days are not limited just by men. Women can play soccer regardless to their sexual or physical limitation, and can build their own identity and desirable traits through performing the sport that they want to play. Through this article, it is plausible to think that the sport made our society to be more open-minded as it does not limit people’s ability by gender or any other distinctive features.
